2024 FALL VEGETABLE SHARES
OVERVIEW
The new Mavourneen Vegetable Share program is our version of Community Supported Agriculture (CSA). This model establishes a direct relationship between our farm and consumers. By signing up, you and your household become members of our farm. In exchange, we will provide you with a weekly or biweekly box of vegetables through the growing season. Simple and revolutionary!
After nearly 10 years of selling at farmers’ markets and helping to build the Bloomington Farm Stop Collective, we are launching this Vegetable Share program in an effort to make our small farm business more viable for our young family. We need people like you to invest in the important work we are doing to grow healthy food for our community and steward the land in this beautiful corner of Monroe County.
This is not like shopping at the grocery store. Joining our Vegetable Share program is about growing the local food shed, creating a more life serving economy, building relationships with people, and sharing nutritious, delicious produce.
If these values appeal to you and you are looking for a deeper connection with food or looking for beautiful, high quality, certified organic vegetables, please join us today! Sign up easily through our Grownby storefront or read below for more details.

We are in process with setting up SNAP processing through our Grownby storefront and should have this option available by the beginning of distribution in September. Please check back for more information in the coming weeks or send us an email to be added to the waiting list.
WHAT’S IN A SHARE
We strive to produce extremely high quality, beautiful, nutrient dense food. Each week share members will receive 8-10 produce items, harvested the day of or day before distribution.
Our weekly shares are designed for medium sized households that cook regularly and eat a veggie forward diet. Our biweekly share option is for small households and individuals who want smaller quantities; it contains the same amount of produce as weekly shares, but pickups occur every other week instead of every week. Since our vegetables are harvested right before distribution, most items should have a shelf life of 10-14 days or more, if kept according to suggested storage directions.
Our goal is to include a well rounded mix of the following categories, for variety of flavors and meal options:
LEAFY GREENS: broccoli, brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, chard, choi, collard greens, escarole, frisee, kale, komatsuna, lettuce, radicchio, radish, spinach, yukina savoy
HERBS: basil, celery, fennel, ginger, cilantro, parsley
ALLIUMS: Garlic, leeks, onions
SUMMER FRUIT: beans, cucumbers, eggplant, snow peas, sweet peppers, tomatoes, zucchini
ROOTS: beets, orange & rainbow carrots, red & white & yellow potatoes, butternut & buttercup & kabocha winter squash
Note that there will be variation across the season, with the most diversity and abundance in September and October and then a heavier focus on greens and storage crops in November and December as we move into cold weather.
WHAT COMES WITH MEMBERSHIP
In addition to fresh food weekly, CSA members will also:
Become members of a community that directly supports young farmers and ecological land stewardship in Monroe County. We have been growing vegetables for 10 years here in Bloomington and have been deeply involved in building a vibrant, life serving local agricultural system that is sustainable for the land and the people of this region.
Have a direct connection to the people who grow their food. This relationship provides transparency in a food system that is increasingly difficult to navigate. Our farm team will greet you at distribution each week and happily answer any questions you have about our production practices or how to use a particular ingredient.
Receive weekly newsletters with a harvest list, recipes, cooking tips, photos & stories from the farm, and more.
Get invites to on-farm tours and events. For the 2024 season we will be hosting a Farm Share member tour and potluck in late September or early October.
Receive special access to sales and bonus crops.
